India and France jointly inaugurated the Indo‑French Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Health at AIIMS New Delhi, marking a new collaboration to develop AI‑driven healthcare solutions.

New Delhi – Officials from India and France inaugurated the Indo‑French Centre for AI in Health at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Thursday, signalling a formal partnership to harness artificial intelligence for medical research and patient care.

The centre aims to bring together AI experts, clinicians and data scientists to create algorithms that can assist in early disease detection, personalised treatment planning and efficient health‑system management. It will serve as a hub for joint research projects, training programmes and technology transfer between the two nations.

Both governments highlighted that the collaboration aligns with broader objectives to strengthen bilateral ties in science and technology, and to position India as a leader in AI‑enabled healthcare solutions for its large population.

AIIMS, India's premier medical institution, will host the centre, providing access to its extensive clinical data and research infrastructure. Researchers anticipate that the partnership will accelerate the development of cost‑effective diagnostic tools and improve outcomes in areas such as oncology, cardiology and infectious diseases.

The inauguration marks the first major joint venture of its kind between India and France in the health‑tech domain, with plans to expand collaborations to other medical specialties in the coming years.
