The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain forecast for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura for today, urging residents to take precautions.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) released a heavy rain forecast at 10:00 IST for the northeastern states of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. The agency warned that rainfall intensity could reach up to 200 mm in some districts, potentially leading to localized flooding and landslides.
Meteorologists noted that the monsoon trough is expected to linger over the region until late evening, with intermittent thunderstorms likely to accompany the downpour. High winds and reduced visibility were also cited as possible hazards.
Local authorities in the affected states have urged residents to stay indoors, secure loose objects, and avoid traveling on major roads. Emergency services have been placed on standby to respond to any incidents.
The IMD advised communities to keep abreast of real‑time updates through official channels and to heed any evacuation orders issued by state governments.
