The India Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of heavy rainfall across Arunachal Pradesh for today and indicated that the southwest monsoon is likely to withdraw further into northern India.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released a weather bulletin this morning warning of heavy rainfall over the entire state of Arunachal Pradesh today. Meteorological models show widespread precipitation with intensities that could disrupt daily activities.

The forecast is based on satellite observations and numerical models that indicate deep moisture influx from the Bay of Bengal combined with favorable atmospheric dynamics. These conditions are also creating a scenario conducive to the southwest monsoon pulling back further into the northern part of the country.

State authorities have been advised to monitor the situation closely, especially in low‑lying and river‑bank areas where flash floods could occur. Transport services, including road and rail, may face delays, and agricultural activities could be affected.

IMD officials noted that the gradual retreat of the monsoon from the north is a normal part of the seasonal transition, mirroring patterns observed over the past few weeks as the system shifts towards the central and western regions of India.
