The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for 18 districts in Odisha, warning of heavy rainfall and frequent lightning.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for 18 districts across Odisha, signalling the likelihood of heavy rainfall and frequent lightning strikes in the coming days.
A yellow alert indicates that weather conditions are expected to be hazardous, with potential for flooding, landslides and power disruptions. Residents in the affected districts are advised to stay indoors, secure loose objects and avoid travelling on roads prone to waterlogging.
Local authorities have urged people to keep a close eye on official updates and to follow safety instructions issued by the police and disaster management teams. The IMD recommends that citizens stay away from open areas during thunderstorms and keep emergency contacts handy.
The warning will remain in effect until the weather stabilises, with the IMD monitoring the situation closely and ready to upgrade the alert if conditions worsen.
