IMD issues Red Alert for heavy to very heavy rain across Odisha today

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has upgraded its warning to a Red Alert for Odisha, signalling the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rain over the state today. A Red Alert is the highest level of warning and indicates a serious risk of flooding, water‑logging and landslides in vulnerable areas.
Meteorologists expect the downpours to affect multiple districts, especially low‑lying and coastal regions where drainage capacity is limited. Residents are advised to stay alert for sudden surges in water levels and to avoid unnecessary travel on flooded roads.
