The India Meteorological Department has raised an orange warning for heavy rainfall in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, urging authorities and the public to take precautionary measures.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall affecting large parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The warning, classified as orange, signals that significant precipitation is expected over the next 24 to 48 hours and could lead to localized flooding and disruption.

An orange alert advises state disaster management agencies, local authorities, and the public to prepare for possible waterlogging, road closures, and damage to infrastructure. Residents in vulnerable areas are recommended to keep emergency kits ready, avoid low‑lying zones, and stay updated through official channels.

Preliminary forecasts indicate that several districts in both states could receive intense downpours, especially in the western and central regions. Authorities in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Indore and surrounding districts have been instructed to activate emergency response teams and monitor river levels closely.

The IMD has emphasized that the alert will be reviewed regularly, and the warning level may be upgraded or downgraded based on evolving weather patterns. Citizens are urged to follow instructions from local administration and avoid unnecessary travel during the peak of the rainfall.
