The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heavy rainfall alert on November 5, covering a number of states across the country. The warning follows the department's assessment of an approaching low‑pressure system expected to bring intense precipitation.
IMD advises state disaster management authorities to activate emergency protocols and keep the public informed about potential flooding, landslides and water‑logging. Residents in the affected regions are urged to stay updated with local forecasts and avoid non‑essential travel.
The department also recommends that households secure loose objects, clear drainage channels and be prepared for possible power interruptions. Further updates will be provided as the weather system evolves.
