The India Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning for tomorrow, September 1, covering Delhi, Maharashtra and several other states, urging residents to stay prepared.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released an advisory on September 1 warning of widespread heavy rainfall across the capital Delhi, the western state of Maharashtra and a number of other regions. The forecast indicates that the monsoon trough will intensify overnight, bringing prolonged showers and occasional thunderstorms.

Meteorologists said the system could produce localized flooding, especially in low‑lying urban areas and river basins. Authorities in the affected states have been asked to monitor water levels, clear drainage channels and activate emergency response teams where needed.

Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, keep emergency kits ready, and stay tuned to local bulletins for updates on road conditions and possible service disruptions. The warning is part of IMD's routine monsoon monitoring aimed at minimizing loss of life and property.

The department will issue further updates if the situation changes, and it urges the public to cooperate with local officials to ensure safety during the expected heavy downpours.
