The India Meteorological Department has warned that Jharkhand will experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorms throughout the week, urging residents to stay prepared.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released an advisory on Monday indicating that the state of Jharkhand is likely to face widespread heavy rain and thunderstorms from Tuesday to Saturday. Meteorologists cited an active monsoon trough and low-pressure systems moving across eastern India as the primary drivers of the expected weather.
The agency cautioned that the intense downpours could trigger flash floods in low-lying areas and increase the risk of landslides in the hilly districts of Ranchi, Dumka and Singhbhum. Residents in flood-prone zones have been advised to keep emergency kits ready and avoid unnecessary travel during peak rain hours.
State disaster management officials have mobilised relief teams, pre-positioned sandbags, and set up temporary shelters in vulnerable villages. Local authorities are also monitoring river levels and have issued alerts to schools and transport operators to suspend activities if conditions worsen.
