IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Uttarakhand on 26–27 September; CM Dhami Urges Vigilance

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for the state of Uttarakhand covering the night of 26 September and the day of 27 September, citing the likelihood of intense rainfall that could lead to flooding and landslides in the hilly terrain. The alert, which is in effect until the end of the 27th, advises residents and authorities to prepare for sudden weather changes. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed all state departments to maintain vigilance, coordinate with disaster management agencies, and ensure that emergency services are ready to respond. The CM also urged local administrations to monitor water levels in rivers and streams and to keep evacuation routes clear. Officials are expected to issue further advisories if the weather pattern intensifies, following the IMD’s regular updates.
