The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in South India until Saturday, noting that the monsoon's retreat remains paused.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an update regarding the current monsoon situation, predicting heavy rainfall across South India until Saturday. The department's latest assessment indicates that the seasonal rain pattern remains active in the southern regions, with no immediate signs of cessation.
According to the IMD, the retreat of the monsoon, which typically begins in mid-September, is currently paused. This pause suggests that the weather systems influencing the region are maintaining their intensity, leading to continued precipitation in the affected areas.
Residents and authorities in South India are advised to remain vigilant as the heavy rains may lead to waterlogging and potential flooding in low-lying areas. The meteorological department continues to monitor the situation closely to provide timely updates on any changes in weather patterns.
This development is significant for agricultural planning and urban management in the region, as the extended period of heavy rains can have varying impacts on local infrastructure and daily life.
