IIT Delhi’s Sonipat Campus Launches Solar Energy Course with Europe Internship

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi’s Sonipat campus has introduced a new solar energy programme that includes a guaranteed internship in Europe for its students.
IIT Delhi’s newly established Sonipat campus announced the start of a specialised solar energy course aimed at engineering undergraduates and post‑graduates. The programme, part of the institute’s push to expand renewable‑energy education, will run for two semesters and cover photovoltaic technology, solar thermal systems and grid integration.
The curriculum has been designed in collaboration with European partner universities and industry bodies, ensuring that students gain exposure to international standards and research practices. Classroom instruction will be complemented by hands‑on projects in the campus’s solar test‑bed facilities.
A distinctive feature of the course is a fully funded internship placement at a European solar research centre or company, offered to all eligible students upon successful completion of the academic component. The internship, lasting up to three months, is intended to provide practical experience and foster cross‑border collaboration.
The institute’s spokesperson said the initiative aligns with India’s renewable‑energy targets and will help build a skilled workforce capable of driving the country’s solar ambitions forward.
