IIT Delhi’s final-year student Gayatri Dua has stepped away from a corporate career to join the political arena. She is contesting the Ward 27 council seat in the Jhalrapatan municipality of Rajasthan as a candidate of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).\n\nThe municipal elections in Jhalrapatan are being closely watched as AAP seeks to expand its footprint beyond the capital. Dua’s candidature marks a rare instance of a top engineering student entering grassroots politics at this stage of her academic journey.\n\nIf elected, she will represent Ward 27, a locality that includes both residential and commercial zones, and will be responsible for local governance issues such as sanitation, water supply, and infrastructure development.
