IIT Delhi Scholar Dies at AIIMS 46 Days After Being Found Unconscious; Abetment Case Filed

An IIT Delhi research scholar died at AIIMS trauma centre 46 days after being found unconscious at his rented accommodation. Police have registered an abetment of suicide case following a complaint from the institute’s security officer and directions from the Supreme Court.
The scholar was discovered unconscious at his rented residence in Delhi and was immediately shifted to AIIMS for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he remained in critical condition and succumbed after 46 days of hospitalization.
Based on a complaint lodged by the Security Officer of IIT Delhi, the police filed an FIR under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to abetment of suicide. The action was taken after receiving directions from the Supreme Court to proceed with the case.
Investigators are now examining the circumstances that led to the scholar’s condition and any possible role of others. IIT Delhi authorities have stated they are extending full cooperation to the investigating team.
