IIM Nagpur signs MoU with Goa Public Works Department to improve traffic management

The Indian Institute of Management Nagpur has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Goa Public Works Department to develop and implement traffic‑management solutions.
IIM Nagpur and the Goa Public Works Department (PWD) have formalised a partnership through a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing traffic management across the state. The MoU outlines collaborative research, data‑driven analysis and pilot projects that will leverage the institute's expertise in operations and analytics.
Under the agreement, faculty and students from IIM Nagpur will work with Goa PWD officials to assess current traffic patterns, design smarter signal coordination and propose policy recommendations. The partnership also includes capacity‑building workshops for departmental staff.
Both parties expect the initiative to reduce congestion, improve road safety and provide a model that other Indian states could replicate. The MoU was signed in a ceremony attended by senior officials from both institutions, signalling a growing trend of academic‑government collaborations in urban mobility.
The collaboration will be monitored through periodic reviews, with initial pilot studies slated to commence later this year in selected corridors of Goa.
