IGIMS Sets Up Direct Monitoring After Rs13.89 Cr Ayushman Fraud

Following a Rs13.89 crore revenue loss and a Rs45 lakh fake claim, IGIMS management has introduced direct monitoring of the Ayushman scheme.
The Institute of Graduate Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna reported a revenue shortfall of Rs13.89 crore linked to irregularities in the Ayushman Bharat scheme. An audit revealed a fraudulent claim amounting to Rs45 lakh, prompting the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) to raise objections.
In response, the hospital's administration has announced the establishment of a direct monitoring system to oversee all Ayushman transactions. The new mechanism will involve real‑time verification of patient eligibility, tighter documentation checks, and periodic internal audits.
Hospital officials said the move aims to restore confidence among beneficiaries and prevent further financial leakage. The oversight framework will be coordinated with the state health department and the scheme's central authority.
The IGIMS management also indicated that staff handling Ayushman claims will undergo additional training, and any future discrepancies will be reported immediately to the CAG for swift action.
