A new 100‑point performance index was introduced in Bihar to grade banks, placing IDFC First Bank at the top and categorising institutions into green, yellow and red zones.
The state government of Bihar has rolled out a 100‑point measurement index to assess the performance of commercial banks operating within the region. The index, applied for the first time, evaluates banks on parameters such as credit delivery, deposit growth, and service quality, and assigns each institution to a colour‑coded zone.
According to the inaugural results, IDFC First Bank emerged as the highest‑scoring bank, securing the top position in the ranking. Several other banks were placed in the green zone, indicating strong performance, while a number of institutions fell into the yellow and red zones, reflecting moderate to weak outcomes.
The categorisation is intended to guide both regulators and customers, highlighting banks that meet robust standards and flagging those that need improvement. Officials expect the index to foster healthy competition and drive better financial services across Bihar.
