Recent interviews with top Bollywood stars suggest that many casting decisions are made during informal conversations on a couch, rather than formal auditions.
In a series of high‑profile interviews, several leading Bollywood actors have spoken candidly about how their roles were secured. The common thread in these conversations is the informal setting—often a relaxed couch setting—where directors and producers discuss potential casting choices.
The actors emphasized that the relaxed environment allows for a more natural assessment of chemistry and suitability, which can be harder to gauge in a formal audition room. This trend, highlighted by the interviews, points to a shift in the industry’s approach to talent selection.
Industry insiders note that while formal auditions still play a role, the couch‑setting discussions have become an increasingly important part of the pre‑production process. The candid nature of these conversations also sheds light on the collaborative spirit that often underpins Bollywood productions.
The revelations from these interviews have sparked renewed interest in the behind‑the‑scenes dynamics of Bollywood casting, suggesting that the couch may indeed be a pivotal stage for future star-making decisions.
