IAF Officer Arrested for Leaking Defence Secrets, Booked Under Official Secrets Act

An Indian Air Force officer was arrested on charges of leaking classified defence information and has been booked under the Official Secrets Act.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has arrested a senior officer on Thursday after authorities discovered that he had transmitted classified defence data to an external party. The officer, whose identity has not been disclosed, is alleged to have shared sensitive information that could compromise national security.
The arrest was carried out by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in collaboration with the IAF’s internal security wing. Investigators say the officer accessed confidential files and forwarded them via an encrypted channel.
Following the arrest, the officer was booked under Section 12 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923. He is now being held in a government custody facility pending further inquiry.
The IAF has condemned the breach, stating that it will cooperate fully with the investigation and that strict disciplinary measures will be taken against any personnel found guilty of leaking state secrets.
