Hundreds of Thousands Gather at Omkareshwar on Sawan’s Fourth Monday for Jyotirlinga Abhishek

On the fourth Monday of the monsoon month, over a hundred thousand devotees bathed in the Narmada and performed water abhishek at the Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar Jyotirlingas in Madhya Pradesh.
On the fourth Monday of the Hindu month of Sawan, the sacred precinct of Omkareshwar in Khanda district, Madhya Pradesh, became a sea of devotees. Early in the day, crowds began to gather along the banks of the Narmada River, drawn by the promise of a holy dip.
After taking the ritual bath in the Narmada, worshippers proceeded to the twin Jyotirlingas of Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar. They offered water abhishek, pouring the river’s flow over the lingams while chanting “Har Har Mahadev.”
Organisers estimate that the number of pilgrims present by evening will exceed one lakh, a figure that reflects the deep reverence for Sawan and the Jyotirlingas. The atmosphere was charged with rhythmic chants and the sound of conches, echoing through the temple complex.
