The Himachal Road Transport Corporation will run 266 extra buses during the Diwali holidays to handle the surge in passenger traffic.
The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) announced that it will operate 266 special buses across the state during the Diwali period. The additional services are slated to run from the eve of the festival through the first week of November, covering key routes that link major towns, pilgrimage centres and market hubs.
Transport Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said the initiative is aimed at easing the expected travel rush and ensuring passenger safety. Extra drivers, conductors and cleaning staff will be deployed, and the buses will adhere to enhanced hygiene protocols.
Tickets for the special services will be available at HRTC counters and through the corporation’s online booking portal, with fares matching regular rates. Commuters have been urged to plan their journeys in advance to avoid congestion.
The move reflects HRTC’s broader effort to provide reliable public transport during peak festive seasons, reinforcing connectivity in the hilly state.
