Police say 40‑year‑old Nanki Devi and her 45‑year‑old husband Mani Bhushan Kumar were shot while sleeping on their roof in Banarsia village, Rohtas district, Bihar.
Late last night, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a couple who were sleeping on the roof of their house in Banarsia village, situated in the Sasaram Mufassil police‑station area of Rohtas district, Bihar.
The victims have been identified as 40‑year‑old Nanki Devi and her 45‑year‑old husband Mani Bhushan Kumar, who ran a small hotel in the village.
Local police arrived at the scene shortly after the shots were heard and recovered the bodies. Both victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were declared dead on site.
Investigators have launched a murder probe, collecting forensic evidence and canvassing the neighbourhood for witnesses. No arrests have been made and the motive remains unclear.
