Honda Motor India announced that its Honda City sedan will now be manufactured at its new Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, aiming to boost output in response to rising domestic demand.
Honda Motor India Ltd confirmed that production of its popular Honda City compact sedan will shift to its newly expanded facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan. The move forms part of a strategic plan to increase capacity and meet accelerating sales in the Indian market.
The Tapukara plant, previously assembling other models, has been upgraded with additional assembly lines and robotics to accommodate City production. Honda expects the plant to add several thousand units of annual output, helping the company sustain its market share in the highly competitive sedan segment.
Industry analysts note that the decision reflects robust demand for fuel‑efficient mid‑size sedans despite a broader shift toward SUVs. The relocation also aligns with the Indian government’s push for manufacturing outside traditional hubs, potentially creating new jobs in the region.
