Authorities say anonymous emails containing false bomb threats were sent to Gujarat courts in an attempt to postpone ongoing NDPS case hearings.

Anonymous senders dispatched emails alleging bomb threats to several Gujarat district courts, prompting heightened security alerts. The messages, later verified as hoaxes, were timed to coincide with scheduled hearings on narcotics cases under the NDPS Act.

Law enforcement agencies have opened a cyber‑crime investigation to trace the origin of the emails and assess whether the motive was to disrupt the judicial process. Officials suspect the aim was to create panic and force adjournments, thereby buying time for parties involved in the drug‑related prosecutions.

The Gujarat High Court issued directives for immediate verification of all electronic communications received by court staff and ordered that any pending NDPS proceedings continue without interruption. Security personnel were deployed at court premises, and a forensic audit of the email servers has been initiated to prevent future misuse.
