Hindu organisations have lodged a memorandum with the Jhalawar Superintendent of Police, objecting to planned Garba and Dandiya performances at a private resort before Navratri.
Jhalawar district officials said Hindu organisations approached the Superintendent of Police with a formal memorandum, demanding that the scheduled Garba and Dandiya dance programmes at a private resort be cancelled or relocated. The protest comes as the city prepares for Navratri, a nine‑day Hindu festival marked by traditional folk dances.
The groups argued that holding such events at a commercial venue could contravene cultural sensitivities and local customs. They have asked the police to intervene and ensure that any public celebrations adhere to community expectations.
Local authorities have not yet issued a final decision, but the memorandum has prompted a review of the event permits. Police officials indicated they will assess the concerns and coordinate with the resort management before the festival begins.
If the objections are upheld, the resort may have to postpone or modify the performances, affecting participants who had already registered for the festivities.
