The Himachal Pradesh government announced plans to install 1.5 Tesla MRI scanners in eight state‑run hospitals, a move aimed at improving diagnostic services across the region.

The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, unveiled a new initiative to upgrade diagnostic infrastructure in the state. Eight government hospitals will receive 1.5 Tesla MRI machines, a significant upgrade from the existing equipment. The procurement is part of a broader health‑sector plan to enhance imaging capabilities and reduce patient referrals to larger cities. The machines are expected to be operational by the end of the fiscal year, with training programs for radiology staff already in the pipeline.
