In Himachal Pradesh, stakeholders are calling for the reinstatement of primary sports contests to boost grassroots participation. Officials and coaches argue that reviving these events will nurture local talent.
The state’s sports authorities have announced a push to bring back primary-level competitions that were halted a few years ago.
Proponents say the hiatus has stunted the development of young athletes and reduced community engagement in sports.
The government is reviewing proposals to reinstate district and block-level tournaments, with a view to integrating them into the state’s broader sports development plan.
