The initiative will introduce a three‑time attendance tracking system, allowing schools to record student presence at three distinct intervals throughout the day.
Under the new scheme, teachers will log attendance in real time, and the data will be uploaded to a central portal managed by the state education department. The system is designed to reduce absenteeism and provide parents with timely updates on their children’s attendance.
Education officials say the move will enhance accountability, as school administrators will have instant access to attendance records and can intervene quickly if patterns of absenteeism emerge. The policy also aims to support the state’s broader goal of improving educational outcomes across rural and urban districts.
The state government plans to roll out the system over the next six months, beginning with pilot schools in Shimla and Kullu before expanding to the remaining 150 institutions. Officials will conduct training sessions for teachers and staff to ensure smooth adoption.
