The Himachal Pradesh government announced that 16 state colleges will offer degree courses tied to apprenticeship training, aiming to boost skill‑based education.
The Himachal Pradesh government has confirmed that it will introduce apprenticeship‑linked degree programmes across sixteen colleges in the state. The move is part of a broader effort to integrate practical training with academic study and to improve graduate employability.
Under the scheme, students will enroll in regular degree courses while simultaneously undertaking on‑the‑job apprenticeships with industry partners. Successful completion of both components will result in a recognised degree that reflects both theoretical knowledge and hands‑on experience.
State officials said the initiative aligns with national skill‑development objectives and will be overseen by the education department in coordination with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The programme is slated to begin in the upcoming academic session.
The selected colleges will receive guidance on curriculum design, assessment methods and industry liaison to ensure the apprenticeship component meets sector standards.
