The Himachal Pradesh government plans to procure 1,000 new buses for the Himachal Road Transport Corporation, with 200 of them earmarked for hydrogen fuel technology.
The Himachal Pradesh government has announced a plan to expand the fleet of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) by adding 1,000 new buses.
Of the new fleet, 200 buses are being considered for hydrogen fuel technology, marking a first for the state’s public transport system.
The procurement aims to improve public transport across the state’s mountainous regions, boost local employment, and support environmental targets by reducing carbon emissions.
A tender will be issued in the coming weeks, with delivery expected in 2025-2026, and the project will be phased to ensure smooth integration into existing routes.
