The state administration of Himachal Pradesh has approached the Centre seeking a 90:10 funding arrangement for the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik) regional air connectivity programme. Under the proposed split, the Union government would contribute 90% of the capital and operational costs, while the state would bear the remaining 10%.
State officials argue that this model will accelerate the development of new air routes linking remote hill districts with major metros, boosting tourism and trade. They highlighted that existing air services are limited to a few airports, and enhanced connectivity is crucial for the state's economic growth.
