State education officials say that schools in Himachal Pradesh have seen a decline of 159,000 students.
Himachal Pradesh’s school system has recorded a net loss of 159,000 students, according to data released by state education authorities. The figure represents the total drop in enrolment across government and private schools during the latest reporting period.
The information was published on the news portal jeevanutsahnews.in, which cited official sources but did not provide a detailed breakdown of the reasons behind the decline. No further statistical context, such as previous year comparisons, was included in the release.
Education analysts note that such a sharp reduction could have implications for funding allocations and future planning, but the state has not yet issued a formal response or outlined remedial measures.
