Himachal Pradesh Receives Central Funds for CCTV Installation in Police Stations

The central government has allocated funds exclusively to Himachal Pradesh for installing CCTV cameras in its police stations, making it the sole state to receive such support.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that Himachal Pradesh is the only state to receive central assistance for installing CCTV cameras in police stations across the state. The allocation aims to enhance security and surveillance in law‑enforcement facilities.

Under the new scheme, the state will receive a dedicated budget to procure and install cameras at all police stations, a move that is expected to improve crime monitoring and evidence collection.

Reports indicate that other states, such as Jharkhand, have yet to install a single CCTV camera in their police stations, highlighting a significant gap in security infrastructure.

Police officials in Himachal Pradesh have welcomed the funding, stating that it will help modernise the force and provide better protection for citizens.

The central government has not yet disclosed the exact amount of the allocation, but the initiative marks a step towards nationwide digital policing reforms.
