The Himachal Pradesh government is looking for ways to collaborate with Japan in education and technology, a state minister said.

The Himachal Pradesh administration announced that it is exploring avenues for academic and technological cooperation with Japan, according to a statement by a state minister. The initiative aims to tap Japanese expertise in research, innovation and skill development to strengthen the state's higher‑education ecosystem.
Potential collaboration could include joint research projects, faculty exchanges, student scholarships and technology transfer programmes. Officials said such ties would help Himachal Pradesh modernise its curricula and boost employment opportunities for local graduates.
The minister indicated that discussions with Japanese counterparts are at an early stage and that formal proposals will be drafted in the coming weeks. The move was reported by the Economic Times' education portal.
