The Himachal Pradesh government has announced a 30% increase in pension arrears for Class III pensioners and a 15% rise for Classes I and II, effective from October.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced on a press conference that the state will increase pension arrears for its senior citizens. The announcement comes as part of the government’s effort to address long‑standing delays in pension payments.
Under the new scheme, pension arrears for Class III pensioners will rise by 30% effective from October, while pensioners in Classes I and II will receive a 15% increase. The move is aimed at easing the financial burden on the elderly.
The state government said the adjustments will be implemented through the existing pension distribution system, with the finance department overseeing the disbursement. Officials expect the changes to be reflected in the October payment cycle.
