A resident of Himachal Pradesh was pulled out of a water‑filled tunnel in Nepal after the recent floods and has described how he survived the ordeal.

A man from Himachal Pradesh was trapped inside a tunnel in Nepal when unprecedented monsoon floods swelled the river that runs through the passage. Rescue teams from the Nepalese disaster response unit arrived after hours of searching and managed to extract the victim from the water‑logged conduit.

The survivor, who preferred to remain unnamed, recounted that rising water levels cut off his exit and forced him to cling to a protruding rock for several hours. He said he rationed the little dry clothing he had and tried to stay calm while waiting for help.

Authorities confirmed that the rescue operation involved local police, army engineers and volunteers who used inflatable boats and rope systems to reach the submerged tunnel. The man was taken to a nearby medical camp for assessment and is reported to be in stable condition.

The incident highlights the cross‑border impact of the Nepal floods, which have displaced thousands and disrupted infrastructure in remote mountainous regions. Officials from both countries are coordinating relief efforts to assist affected communities and prevent further casualties.
