The Himachal Pradesh High Court has ordered the state government to submit a detailed response regarding alleged illegal construction activities near the heritage Ellerslie Building in Shimla.
The bench of the Himachal Pradesh High Court issued a notice directing the state government to provide a comprehensive reply on reports of illegal construction near the Ellerslie Building, a landmark colonial‑era structure in Shimla.
The alleged work is said to be taking place within a protected heritage zone that surrounds the building, raising concerns among conservationists and local residents.
In its order, the court asked the government to detail the status of the construction, any approvals obtained, and the measures being taken to halt unauthorised activity.
The matter has been slated for a further hearing, where the court will assess the response and decide on any corrective action required.
