Governor Kavinder Gupta of Himachal Pradesh released three newly authored books focusing on the history and evolution of Dogri theatre.

Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta presided over the launch of three books that document the growth of Dogri theatre, a regional performing art with deep roots in the Jammu region. The ceremony, held at the governor's official residence, featured a brief presentation of each volume and a short cultural program showcasing excerpts from classic Dogri plays.

The publications, compiled by scholars and theatre practitioners, trace the origins of Dogri stagecraft from its folk beginnings to contemporary experimental forms. They also include interviews with veteran artists, archival photographs, and analyses of linguistic nuances that distinguish Dogri performances from other North Indian theatrical traditions.

In his remarks, Governor Gupta emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting indigenous art forms, calling Dogri theatre a vital expression of the cultural heritage of the Himalayan foothills. He urged educational institutions and cultural bodies to incorporate these works into curricula and public libraries, ensuring wider access for students and enthusiasts.

The three books will be made available to libraries across Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, with plans for a digital release later this year to reach a broader audience interested in regional theatre studies.
