Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu officially launched a helicopter link between Sanjauli and Rampur in Himachal Pradesh, unveiling additional scheduled flights.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu presided over the inauguration of a new helicopter service connecting Sanjauli, a suburb of Shimla, with Rampur in the state’s interior. The ceremony, held at the Sanjauli helipad, marked the first operational link of its kind in the region.
The CM highlighted that the aerial corridor will shorten travel time between the two locations, offering a faster alternative to the winding mountain roads. He noted that improved connectivity is expected to boost tourism, facilitate emergency medical evacuations, and support local businesses.
During the launch, officials announced a schedule of additional flights that will run on a regular basis, subject to weather conditions. The service is slated to operate using light helicopters suitable for high‑altitude operations, though specific fleet details were not disclosed.
State authorities indicated that the initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance transport infrastructure across Himachal’s remote valleys, aiming to integrate them more closely with the state capital and other economic hubs.
