Heavy Snowfall Closes Multiple Mountain Passes in Himachal Pradesh

A fresh spell of snowfall has blanketed the high-altitude regions of Himachal Pradesh, turning roads and trekking routes into white drifts. The weather agency reported that the accumulation is significant enough to affect visibility and road conditions across the state's mountainous terrain.

In response, the state administration has ordered the closure of several key mountain passes that connect remote villages and tourist spots. Travel advisories have been issued, urging commuters to avoid non-essential journeys and to seek alternative routes where possible.

Local rescue and police teams have been deployed to monitor the situation and assist stranded travelers. Officials warned that the closures may remain in effect until the snow melts and the roads are deemed safe for traffic.

The snowfall, while picturesque, poses challenges for the tourism sector, which relies heavily on seasonal visitors to the hill stations. Hotels and local businesses are preparing for possible disruptions, and authorities are coordinating with transport operators to minimize inconvenience.
