The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of intensified rainfall across Madhya Pradesh from September 23, with a pronounced downpour expected on September 24‑25, particularly in the eastern districts of Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol and Sagar, as well as in Bhopal‑Narmadapuram.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert that rainfall will begin to increase across Madhya Pradesh from September 23. A more intense spell of rain is forecast for September 24 and 25, with the department describing it as a "heavy" downpour.
The eastern part of the state is expected to bear the brunt of the weather system. Districts in the Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol and Sagar divisions, along with the Bhopal‑Narmadapuram region, are likely to experience the highest rainfall intensity, raising the risk of water‑logging and localized flooding.
Local authorities have been advised to monitor river levels and drainage infrastructure closely. Residents in the affected districts are urged to stay informed, avoid low‑lying areas during the peak of the showers, and follow any instructions issued by disaster management officials.
