Heavy rainfall across Uttar Pradesh has killed 56 people within two days and damaged about a thousand houses, authorities said.
Heavy rainstorms swept through large parts of Uttar Pradesh over the past 48 hours, leaving a death toll of 56 people, officials confirmed. The fatalities were reported from several districts where water levels rose rapidly, trapping residents in their homes and vehicles.
The deluge also destroyed or severely damaged roughly 1,000 houses, according to the state disaster management department. Rescue teams, including the police, fire services and the National Disaster Response Force, have been deployed to evacuate stranded families and provide emergency relief.
State officials warned that the monsoon season is intensifying and urged citizens to stay alert, avoid low‑lying areas and cooperate with relief operations. Relief camps have been set up in affected districts, and the government is coordinating with the central ministry to dispatch additional supplies and medical aid.
