A 150-year-old neem tree was uprooted by rain in Hardua Panji, Damoh, toppling three thatched houses and injuring two women.
On Sunday morning, heavy rainfall in the Hardua Panji locality of Damoh district caused a 150‑year‑old neem tree to snap out of the ground. The massive trunk fell onto three adjoining thatched houses, crushing roofs and walls.
The impact damaged the structures severely, shattering walls, tearing off thatch and ruining household items stored inside. Residents reported that the homes, which were built of traditional mud and thatch, were rendered uninhabitable.
Two women who were inside the houses at the time sustained injuries. They were rushed to a nearby medical facility where treatment is ongoing. Local authorities have been alerted and are assessing the extent of property loss.
Emergency services are assisting the affected families, and officials are urging residents to stay clear of unstable trees as the monsoon season continues.
