Three active weather systems are causing intense rainfall in eastern Madhya Pradesh, prompting an orange alert for Seoni and Balaghat and raising flood threats across 16 districts.

Three weather systems currently over the sub‑continent have converged over eastern Madhya Pradesh, unleashing prolonged heavy showers. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the districts of Seoni and Balaghat, indicating a high likelihood of further intensification.

Rivers across the region, notably the Narmada, Mandakini and several tributaries, are reported to be at flood stage. The swelling waterways have prompted officials to warn that 16 districts could face inundation if the rains persist.

State disaster management teams have been placed on high alert, with evacuation plans readied for vulnerable villages along the riverbanks. Residents have been advised to stay indoors, avoid low‑lying areas, and follow real‑time updates from local authorities.

Meteorologists predict that the active systems will continue to feed moisture into the area for the next 48‑72 hours, keeping the risk of flash floods elevated until the monsoon trough moves eastward.
