Heavy Rain Sweeps Delhi, Easing Heat and Humidity

Delhi experienced intense rainfall across several districts, providing much-needed relief from the scorching heat and high humidity that have plagued the city for weeks.
Heavy rainfall was reported across northern and central Delhi between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM local time, with peak intensity in the Hauz Khas, Karol Bagh and Lajpat Nagar areas. The Delhi Meteorological Department recorded rainfall amounts of up to 25 mm in some parts, the highest in the city for the month. The sudden downpour has brought a welcome drop in temperatures, which fell from 39 °C to 32 °C, and has reduced the relative humidity from 85 % to 70 %.
City officials have urged residents to stay indoors and avoid low-lying areas that may be prone to flooding. The Delhi Police and Municipal Corporation have deployed water pumps and road crews to clear drainage channels and prevent waterlogging.
The Central Pollution Control Board noted that the rainfall has helped lower particulate matter levels in the air, improving visibility and reducing the risk of heat‑related illnesses.
Residents are advised to keep windows closed, use mosquito nets, and stay hydrated as the weather continues to cool down.
