Rainfall across more than six districts of Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, has drenched thousands of quintals of maize, causing significant crop loss.
A widespread rain system moved across Madhya Pradesh, bringing heavy showers to over six districts, with Bhopal among the hardest hit areas. Meteorological reports confirmed continuous downpours that began early on Monday and persisted throughout the day.
The deluge soaked agricultural fields, particularly those cultivating maize. Preliminary estimates indicate that thousands of quintals of the grain have been waterlogged, raising concerns among farmers about potential yield reduction and post‑harvest losses.
State agricultural officials have been dispatched to the affected districts to assess the damage and advise growers on mitigation steps. While the rain is expected to subside later this week, the immediate focus remains on protecting the remaining crops and preventing further spoilage.
