Heavy Rain Hits Jharkhand, Govt Warns Tourists Against Visiting Waterfalls

Heavy showers swept across Jharkhand on Monday, causing water levels in rivers and streams to rise rapidly. Local authorities reported that several waterfalls in the region were swollen, creating hazardous conditions for visitors.

The state tourism department issued an immediate advisory, urging tourists to postpone trips to popular waterfall spots such as Hundru Falls, Dassam Falls and Jonha Falls until the weather stabilises. Officials highlighted the risk of slippery rocks, sudden flash floods and strong currents that could endanger unprepared travelers.

Police and forest‑range officers have been deployed to monitor the affected sites and to enforce the warning. The department also advised local businesses that depend on waterfall tourism to inform guests about the safety notice and to consider alternative attractions until the rains subside.
