Heavy Rain Floods Raipur, Chhattisgarh: Roads Submerged, Residents Evacuated

Intense rainfall in Raipur has led to widespread flooding, submerging roads and forcing residents to evacuate. Authorities have deployed emergency teams to affected areas.
On Thursday, Raipur experienced heavy rainfall that caused widespread flooding across the city. The monsoon showers, which lasted for over six hours, dumped more than 80 millimetres of rain, overwhelming local drainage systems.
Numerous roads, including the main Ring Road and the NH 30 corridor, were submerged, disrupting traffic and isolating several neighbourhoods. Several residential complexes reported water ingress, and a few low‑lying areas saw water levels rise to over a meter.
In response, the Chhattisgarh Disaster Management Authority dispatched emergency response teams and set up temporary shelters for displaced residents. Local police and fire services were also on the ground to assist with evacuation and to clear debris.
The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh urged citizens to stay indoors and to avoid crossing flooded roads. He also announced plans to strengthen drainage infrastructure and to conduct a comprehensive review of flood‑prone zones in the city.
