The weather department has warned of extremely heavy rain in Tikamgarh, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Betul and Rajgarh, while 20 districts across Madhya Pradesh are forecast to receive more than 2.5 inches of rain on Tuesday.

The Madhya Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (MPSDMA) issued an extreme‑heavy rain alert for five districts – Tikamgarh, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Betul and Rajgarh – for Tuesday. Meteorological forecasts predict rainfall exceeding 2.5 inches in these areas, raising the risk of flash floods and water‑logging.

In addition to the five districts, a broader heavy‑rain warning covers twenty other districts across the state, including the capital Bhopal. Authorities have urged residents to stay alert, avoid low‑lying zones and follow any instructions from local officials.

The department has mobilised emergency response teams and pre‑positioned relief supplies in the most vulnerable districts. Continuous monitoring will be carried out throughout the day, and updates will be communicated via local media and official channels.

Residents are advised to keep emergency kits ready, secure loose objects, and refrain from driving through flooded roads. The alert remains in effect until the weather system moves away from the region.

The heavy rain is part of a larger monsoon pattern affecting central India, and officials expect similar conditions in neighboring states over the coming days.
