The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for Delhi and Uttar Pradesh as the monsoon spreads across the nation.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) announced a heavy rain alert for the National Capital Territory of Delhi and the state of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
The alert follows the arrival of the monsoon, which has now covered the entire country, bringing increased rainfall and the risk of flooding in low‑lying areas.
Officials have urged residents to stay indoors, keep emergency kits ready and monitor local weather updates for any changes in the forecast.
Transport and road authorities have been advised to inspect bridges and drainage systems to mitigate potential disruptions.
The alert remains in effect until the monsoon season subsides, with the IMD continuing to monitor rainfall intensity across the region.
